I'M

JELILAT

ADESIYAN.

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER & WEBDEVELOPER

I am a first year PhD student in Technical Communication. I am interested in the software design cycle, usability, graphic design and instructional design. I am currently taking Online Publishing, a course that will increase my understanding of HTLM & CSS. It will also introduce me to JavaScript.

In the past, I have worked with HTML & CSS using text editors and Adobe Dreamweaver. While I still have some of that knowledge, a refresh would be very helpful.

As part of a class I took during my Master's program, I created a website using just HTML & CSS, and then another more dynamic website using Adobe Dreamweaver. I have also, in recent past, created about 7 portfolio blog websites using Wix and Wordpress.

While I appreciate the helpfulness of WYSIWYG web editors, increasing my knowledge level of these languages can further help me create the vision I want. There have been many a time that I adjusted something on a web editor but could not figure out how to make it stay where I wanted it to be or look how I wanted it to look, until I went into the back end.

I hope this class will introduce me to elements of HTML that I might have forgotten. My CSS skills are not quite as developed as my HTML because I haven't had much opportunity to use it, so I hope to increase my knowledge in it as well.

I believe these skills will be helpful for me as I hope to go into the technical communication industry one day.

Form Output
SCRIPTING EXERCISE #1

Using a text editor, I created a basic, one-page form to collect information about events to add to a calendar. This form has four different form element tags; a checkboxtext-areas, radio buttons and a dropdown select option to enter event information. It also has a submit button that emails the contents of the form to a my email address and a reset button.

The Cascading Waters Book cover
FINAL WEBSITE PROJECT

I developed a website for a first time author. My client's goal was to promote her book, as well as create a hub for any and all thing Cascading Waters (book title). In order to create a fully functional website, I incorporated other systems that I created such as an Instagram page, a new email account, a Goodreads page, and a blog for the book.

I included several interactive features such as slideshows & image libraries, as well as a .GIF. For example, I used the image library feature to display an excerpt of the book.

It is fully functional in these two browsers: Chrome and Safari.
