SOCIETY FOR TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION

Creating more usable law documents and recruitment Materials

As a member of STC as a whole, and as the secretary of the STC TTU Chapter, I focus on collecting information for the governing body, as well as for the current and future members of STC. As a smaller version of a much bigger organizations, we have a variety of standard documents that help us recruit as well as organization guidelines.

The constitution and bylaws, as well as recruiting materials are documents that while present seem inaccessible due to their location. While these documents are available in a google drive, they could be more accessible and interactive, as well as available in a more public space for all members of the organization.

THE PROJECT

I will be editing the STC constitution, bylaws and recruitment PowerPoint to bring it up to date. At the moment, officer duties are not clear within the organization, and recruitment information is outdated. This documentation project aims to update and redevelop these documents into more its usable, accessible, useful documents.

The project plan includes the project overview, schedule, development strategies, project dependencies and assumptions, and project resource requirements.

I created a basic, well-formed XML document based on a webpage I intend to create as part of this project.

This exercise focused on listing some possible careers for Technical Communicators.

The project presentation is a 7 slide presentation that discusses the project overview, product features, technical challenges, and lessons learned.
